Ashley Bryant Harbin, Ph.D., CBIS, of Health Psychology Solutions of the Carolinas, LLC, located at Spero Psychiatry, LLC. After growing up in Atlanta and graduating from Davidson College, Dr. Harbin earned her masters and doctorate degrees in Medical Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed an internship and post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center. Since Dr. Harbin moved to South Carolina in 2000, she has practiced in children’s hospitals, medical specialty clinics, private pediatric practices, an independent school, and in private practice. She works with children, adolescents, adults, and families as they face challenges which include traumatic injuries, chronic illness, and a broad range of psychiatric diagnoses. Dr. Harbin works extensively with schools and medical teams in order to ensure careful collaboration among all of the professionals helping a family. She completed additional training to become a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, and she has presented at state and national conferences about best practices in assessing and managing neuropsychological symptoms associated with complex concussions.
Berkeley H. Gardner M.Ed. AACC with Berkeley Gardner Coaching, LLC. Berkeley Gardner, a graduate of Davidson College, went on to earn her Masters of Education in English and English as a Second Language at The George Washington University. She spent over 15 years teaching in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Providence Day School, and Charlotte Country Day School. While working with individual students at Country Day, Berkeley realized that those with ADHD needed a different approach and greater support. She spent several years earning her coaching certification at David Giwerc’s ADD Coaching Academy (ADDCA) and then formed Berkeley Gardner Coaching, LLC. For the past six years Berkeley has worked with college students and adults with ADHD. Her strengths based coaching process intertwines CBT techniques and strategies that address weak executive function skills and limiting beliefs. Berkeley partners with her clients to create personalized support systems tailored to their specific “flavor” of ADHD.
Candice Dunn, Psy.D. graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a doctorate degree in clinical psychology. She has had extensive training in Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy and provided supervision for therapeutic teams in two counties in Pennsylvania delivering this intensive level of in-home and community therapy. In addition, Dr. Dunn has had advanced training in trauma therapy and served as the Director of Clinical Services for the Saratoga Center for Family in New York. Currently, Dr. Dunn is the Coastal Community Psychology Supervisor for the South Carolina Department of South Carolina.
Chelsey R. Simmons, Ph.D, LPES-S, TF-CBT is an assistant professor of counseling and psychology at Coastal Carolina University. While at Coastal Carolina, Chelsey helped establish the newly developed M. Ed in Counseling Program. Prior to joining the faculty at Coastal Carolina, she served as a School Psychologist for the Georgetown County School District for ten years and was a lead School Psychologist. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in both Psychology and Sociology from the College of Charleston, and her Master of Arts degree in Psychology and Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. She received a Ph. D. in Education with a concentration in curriculum, instruction, and assessment from Coastal Carolina University in 2022. Chelsey is also a Licensed Psychoeducational Specialist (LPES) in South Carolina, serving as a private behavioral health service provider to individuals in Horry and Georgetown counties. Her research interests lie within evaluating mental health outcomes for children and young adults and breaking down barriers to access for mental health services.
Christiana DeGregorie, Psy.D. has a doctoral degree from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology. She has been serving Veterans through the Department of Veteran’s Affairs since 2013. She has worked in Outpatient Mental Health and with the VA Suicide Prevention Program prior to joining the Greenville Vet Center in 2023. Dr. DeGregorie also has experience working in University Counseling Centers and hospital systems. Prior to having her two young boys she served on both the SC Board of Examiners and the South Carolina Psychological Association Boards.
Connie Guille, MD is a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She is the Director of the Women’s Reproductive Behavioral Health Division – a division devoted to advancing clinical research, training and education, and clinical care in maternal mental health and substance use disorders through innovative telehealth programs to improve care and reduce racial and geographic disparities in maternal health.
Danielle Atkinson, Psy.D. earned her Master’s degree in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and her Doctorate of Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has worked in a variety of forensic settings, including the NJ State Parole Board, NJ’s sex offender commitment facilities, and Anne Klein Forensic Center, a secure forensic hospital. She has experience in a variety of forensic assessments to include sexual and violence risk assessments, malingering evaluations, competency/sanity evaluations, as well as clinical diagnostic evaluations. For the past nine years, she has enjoyed working with justice-involved youth with the SC Department of Juvenile Justice and is currently the community supervisor for the Upstate region.
Gordon Teichner, Ph.D., ABPP is the Director of Charleston Neuropsychology. His specialty areas include Neuropsychological Assessment, Psychological Assessment, and Forensic Neuropsychological / Psychological Assessment. He is active in research including as an Investigator on clinical trials research studies examining the efficacy of medications for various neurodevelopmental and psychological disorders.
Heidi Dawn, Psy.D. completed her MA and PsyD in Clinical Psychology from CSPP in San Diego, CA. She was the program director of a short-term residential program for dually diagnosed adults in psychiatric crisis, working at Community Research Foundation programs for nine years in San Diego. Dr. Dawn then lived and worked in Costa Rica for over a decade and had a general clinical practice which included therapy and psychological evaluations. Upon returning to the States over six years ago, she and her family settled in South Carolina, and she has been employed with the SC Department of Juvenile Justice ever since. Currently she is the Midlands Community Psychology Supervisor working with a team of psychologists conducting court ordered evaluations for at-risk youth. She also has a part time private clinical practice (therapy and neuropsychological evaluations).
James Capobianco, Ed.D., LISW-CP is a retired Major in the US Army. He served two combat deployments to Iraq. His first deployment was in 2005 and his second was in 2007 as part of the “Surge.” He currently works with the Department of Veterans Affairs and serves as the Director of the Greenville Vet Center. He is a former Mental Health Program Manager for the VA and previously served as the Regional Director of Family Preservation Services in Rutherford and Polk Counties NC. He holds a Doctorate of Education in Counseling and Traumatology, a Master of Social Work degree, and a Master of Arts degree in International Studies. His military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Officer Candidate School, Military Intelligence Officer Basic and Captain’s Career Courses, Counter Insurgency Leaders Course, Defense Intelligence Agency’s Intelligence Collection Management Course, Defense Language Institute’s Chinese Mandarin Basic Course, and the Far East Asian Cryptologic Linguist Course. His commendations include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge. He authored seven articles pertaining to counterinsurgency warfare and intelligence operations published in Infantry Magazine, Armor Magazine, and the Center for Army Lessons Learned.
Janet Orwig MBA, CAE, has led the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) as its executive director since 2015. In her position, she supports the Compact’s governing body, the PSYPACT Commission. Janet manages the day-to-day operations of PSYPACT, including implementing compact and regulatory compliance. She plays an integral part in developing new services and programs, securing and managing large government grants, and furthering stakeholder relations. Her 28-year career in association management includes experience in customer service, communications, public relations, advocacy, strategic planning and implementation, leadership development, and project and program management. Janet earned her Paralegal Certificate and undergraduate degree from Huntingdon College and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix. She is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE).
Kerrie G. Murphy, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with young children and families. Dr. Murphy received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical-Community psychology from the University of South Carolina and she completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowships in developmental disabilities and trauma-informed care in youth at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC).
Dr. Murphy’s clinical expertise is in early childhood mental health, including evaluating and treating challenging behaviors in young children, promoting and enhancing positive caregiver-child relationships, and supporting caregivers in using evidence-based parenting tools. Dr. Murphy is a PCIT International Certified Therapist and Within Agency Trainer. She is passionate about supporting and empowering caregivers of young children. She currently owns Lowcountry Child Psychology, a private practice in Charleston, SC where she provides evidence-based, relationship-focused therapy services to young children and families. Dr. Murphy is Endorsed as an Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (ECMH-E®), and she also serves on the Board of the South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association (SCIMHA) to help bring support and awareness to infant and early childhood mental health throughout South Carolina.
Laura Crawford, BS, LMSW is a Licensed Master Social Worker and the owner of Advanced Practice Mental Health and Wellness. Laura and her husband Eric have 9 children together, 5 of which were adopted through foster care. Laura and Eric were foster parents for 8 years and Laura also volunteered as Guardian ad litem and a parent surrogate. As a parent surrogate, Laura would represent children in foster care in the educational setting during their yearly IEP meetings and any special accommodations that were needed.
Laura has extensive knowledge of ADHD and mood disorders. She works with individuals of all ages, families, post adoption support services and parenting. Laura is a huge supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community and runs a support group for parents whose children are part of that community.
Laura has developed three different parenting workshops and is passionate about helping adults heal past trauma and working with individuals to help stabilize moods and advocate for children with mental health struggles. Laura is certified in treating trauma with poly vegal theory. Advanced Practice Mental Health and Wellness strives to be different in our approach to mental well-being and support. She values the benefits of therapy and proper psychiatric medication management and feels everyone could benefit from having someone reliable to talk to when times get difficult. Laura works closely with many area agencies to support as many programs in the community as possible. One of those partnerships is with the solicitor’s office, juvenile division. Where APMH serves as the setting for anger management and domestic violence classes. APMH is also a huge supporter of Sea Haven youth home where her and her staff volunteer counseling services.
Vaile Wright, Ph.D. is the Senior Director for the Office of Health Care Innovation at the American Psychological Association. She is a licensed psychologist and researcher focusing on developing strategies to leverage technology and data to address issues within health care including increasing access, measuring care, improving efficiencies and optimizing treatment delivery at both the individual and systems level. She has maintained an active line of research with peer-reviewed articles in multiple journals and serves as a media spokesperson for APA
