Looking for a Psychologist?

No one is immune to emotional distress. At times, such distress can become overwhelming, and individuals may need help as they struggle with their problems. Psychologists are specially trained to help with these problems.

Psychologists are highly trained professionals with expertise in the areas of human behavior, mental health assessment, diagnosis and treatment, and behavior change. Psychologists apply scientifically validated procedures to help people change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

The state of South Carolina licenses psychologists to practice in our state. Licensure requires that a psychologist has earned the doctoral degree from an accredited program and has completed extensive supervised training in their area of specialization. It’s the combination of doctoral-level training and clinical internship that distinguishes psychologists from many other mental health care providers.

Licensure laws are intended to protect the public by limiting licensure to those persons qualified to practice psychology as defined by state law. In South Carolina, renewal of this license depends upon the demonstration of continued competence and requires continuing education. Members of the South Carolina Psychological Association (SCPA) adhere to a strict code of professional ethics.

As a free service to help you locate qualified psychologists in your area, The South Carolina Psychological Association (SCPA) has developed this referral list. Here you can find information on the psychologists’ office locations, professional licenses held, areas of specialty, and their areas of practice interests. Once you have obtained a list of psychologists who fit your search criteria, you can contact them to determine which one is the best match for you.

I am a cadet at The Citadel, pursuing a path toward pediatric psychiatry with a strong interest in child development and mental health. My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care for children and adolescents while advocating for improved mental health resources. In addition to my academic journey, I plan to commission into the ARMY National Guard, where I will serve as a leader dedicated to personnel management and soldier welfare.
I am passionate about the intersection of mental health and military service, striving to support both children and service members in need. As I continue my studies, I am eager to gain experience, expand my knowledge, and connect with professionals who share my dedication to service, mental health, and leadership.
